Terms of Service

You sign in with a Google account and must be at least 16. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so keep access to it secure and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it.

Usernames are first come, first served. We may reclaim a username that impersonates someone, infringes a trademark, or has been inactive with no content for a long time.

What you add to Life Update, including updates, moments, photos, bios and recaps, stays yours. You give us a limited licence to store, process and display it only to run Life Update for you: showing it to you, showing what you've made public on your public pages and embeds, and generating recaps when you ask.

Only share content you have the right to share. Photos of other people and details of their events (for example who attended a meeting) are your responsibility to publish thoughtfully.

Your profile and anything you add to your timeline are public at your Life Update address and may be seen by anyone, shared, embedded, and indexed by search engines. Suggestions from connected apps stay private until you add them. You can edit or delete anything at any time.

When you connect an app such as Google Calendar, Google Photos, Spotify or GitHub, you authorise Life Update to access that app on your behalf, only in the ways described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of those apps is still governed by their own terms. You can disconnect any app at any time.

Sources that use public information, like Letterboxd, Goodreads, Hacker News, Chess.com or a blog feed, must be your own accounts or feeds you have the right to use.

Connected apps can change or stop working without notice. We'll do our best to keep them working but can't guarantee any particular integration will always be available.

Recaps and post drafts are written by AI from your own timeline. They can be wrong or leave things out, so read them before you share them. You decide whether a recap appears on your page.

Don't use Life Update to:

• break the law, or post content that's illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or that infringes someone else's rights;
• impersonate someone, or publish other people's private information without their permission;
• spam, scrape, or put unreasonable load on the service;
• probe, break or get around our security, or access accounts or data that aren't yours.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

Life Update has a free plan. Paid plans, when offered, are described on our pricing page, renew automatically until cancelled, and can be cancelled any time, taking effect at the end of the current billing period. Free trials don't require a card. We'll tell you before any price change affects you. Where the law gives you a right to a refund, we honour it.

You can delete your account at any time from the dashboard (Sources, then Delete account), which permanently removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other people at risk; where we reasonably can, we'll warn you first and let you export your content.

We work hard to keep Life Update running and your data safe, but the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data from connected apps will always be complete or accurate.

To the extent the law allows, Life Update isn't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or €50 if you haven't paid us anything. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, or your rights as a consumer.

We may update these terms as Life Update changes. We'll update the date at the top, and for material changes we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Life Update after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.
